We didn't set out to build a church. We set out to build a family of faith.
Every church has a story. Ours started with a calling, a lot of faith, and two pastors who believed God had more for His people.
Pastor Billy and Pastor Joy Davis didn't set out to build a church — they set out to build a family of FAITH! A place where people could come as they are, learn, grow, be loved and leave transformed. A place where the Word of God is preached without compromise, but grace is given without limits. A place where you don't have to have it all together to belong.
Acts Community didn't start in a traditional church building. It didn't even start on a Sunday morning. It started in the warehouse of their business — as a community Bible study called Caffeinated Christian Network where faith and everyday life collided in the best way possible. They weren't trying to "do church." They were trying to BE the church, right where they were.
It wasn't until people started asking "Can we do this on Sundays too?" that Acts Community Church - under the commissioning of their own church leaders, was officially born. And wouldn't you know it — it launched in February 2020. Yes, THAT February. Right before the world shut down.
When COVID hit, Pastor Billy and Pastor Joy had every reason to question if they'd heard God correctly. But God had a plan. They pivoted to online services, learned livestreaming on the fly, and for nearly a year the church gathered virtually. God was building community even through a screen.
From the warehouse, to a hotel conference room, to our current home in Mechanicsville, Virginia— Acts Community has always been about one thing: a real family where people know your name, pray for your needs, and grow together in grace and purpose.
We've seen miracles, breakthroughs, and salvations. We've grown — not just in numbers, but in depth, maturity, and love for one another. Acts Community is now a worldwide ministry - serving both local and virtual members abroad.
This isn't just Pastor Billy and Pastor Joy's church. This is GOD'S church.
